Ok, so how much can I post about trees? Apparently a lot! I cannot get over how proud I am of these Thuja Green Giants I planted in 2012.

A Thuja Green Giant Treeline

Back in 2012 when Kris and I flipped a dilapidated Tennessee farm house, I had this vision of a beautiful row of trees that blocked the house from the road and quickly discovered that a good size tree is around $10 and I needed 100. That was not a possibility for me. Ever determined, I found a tree farm and called and talked to the owner and was able to get very small trees for about $3 a tree. I saved for months and finally scraped together the money.

Once we got them, I used a measuring tape and spray paint to mark where we should dig the hole and I spaced them out every five feet. I measured to make sure they were ten feet from the road. I thought Kris was going to strangle me based off the tediousness of preparing to just dig the holes. People made jokes about how small they were saying things like, “Well, they might be pretty good trees in about 20 years or so! Hahah”. #eyeroll I knew they looked like Charlie Brown Christmas trees but it was the absolute best I could do to fulfill my vision.

For the next several years, we took extra care to mulch and water them to ensure they wouldn’t die and would grow strong. I learned about bagworms and fought to keep them protected for years.

Seeing how amazing they looked now makes me so proud of my hard work, so here I am showcasing them! I’d do it all over in a heartbeat.

My parents now live in the the house so I get to keep an eye on these when I visit them from time to time.

Enjoy the before and after, as well as some close up shots I got to get of some visitors that decided to stake claim to one of the trees. 😄

Don’t mind me as I take a photo shoot with my trees. 😂

Some Unexpected Visitors

While visiting my parents last spring, I noticed this hornets nest from the car when pulling into the driveway. I could not resist getting out my Canon and snapping some photos.

These guys were daring me to take one step closer.

While my love for an evergreen fence line cannot be denied, I can’t say I hate a traditional fence. We’ve got this one across the road and say what you will, but it really makes that Tennessee country sunset.
