Snoqualmie Falls

As I explore Washington for the summer, I had to get my waterfall fix in by visiting Washington’s super popular Snoqualmie Falls. Some fun facts:

  • The falls measure 268 feet
  • There are more than 1.5 million visitors per year
  • The top of the waterfall is less than 100 yards from the parking lot and the road to the falls is paved
  • There is a more traditional, 1.5 mile heavily trafficked path leading down the the bottom of the falls, which I highly recommend taking. It’s not difficult, but if it’s been a while since you hiked, it will certainly get your heart pumping!
  • In October 2019, the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe purchased Snoqualmie Falls and the Salish Lodge as well as 45 acres of surrounding land for $125 million in efforts to stop “irresponsible development”.

Upon arrival you’ll see the state park sign which is always a nice welcome.

Me and Buddy after the hike – It got so warm that I had to take off my sweatshirt and I am rocking my hike hair.

I was surprised with how easy walk was to the overlook that shows the top of the falls. Expect lots of people. It was crowded… Regardless, it only took a few minutes to get there (maybe ten at the most) and the whole way was paved with stairs that had nice engravings. The view was a huge payoff for such an easy walk.

An iPhone selfie because I just couldn’t help myself… look at how gorgeous those falls are!

Along the 1.5 mile hike to the bottom, you’ll encounter lots of plants, flowers, and interesting trees in general. The hike down was legit enjoyable.

This park is dog friendly and this 14 year old Rat Terrier had no issues trotting along the trail.

Why is he so beautiful?!

One you get the bottom, you see the falls from a different angle and it makes for some nice photos.

I was there a total maybe 2.5 hours, but I really took my time. There is a gift shop that serves drinks and ice cream. There’s also plenty of picnic tables along the way if you want to pack your lunch in and enjoy the day with your family. Definitely kid friendly as there were many small children making their way down to the bottom falls with their parents.

If you like chasing waterfalls like me, put this one on your list! I’m happy I was able to make the trip and can’t wait to find more gems like this while on the Washington area.
